About · Bozhidar Lambov

One engineer.
Four disciplines.
End-to-end.

I'm Bozhidar - the engineer behind Lambda-Byte. I build software across AI integration, data analysis, web development, and system design. One person, taking a project from early scoping through to production.

Most of my projects look the same on paper: a team has a hard problem that crosses layers - a data pipeline that has to feed an AI feature that has to surface in a web app that has to scale. I handle all of it. Available for B2B contracts, embedded engagements with your team, and fractional / advisory work.

What I do

The four crafts,
in detail.

01

AI Integration

I take LLM features from prototype to production. Retrieval pipelines, agent workflows, prompts that hold up with real users, and evals to keep them honest.

  • RAG & search — embeddings, hybrid retrieval, reranking, citations
  • Agents & tool use — multi-step workflows, function calling, guardrails
  • Evals & observability — offline benchmarks, online tracing, regression suites
  • Fine-tuning & distillation — when prompts hit their ceiling
02

Data Analysis

From "we have a database, now what" to dashboards your team actually opens on Monday. I write the SQL, model the warehouse, and answer the questions that don't fit in a BI tool.

  • Pipelines — ETL/ELT, dbt-style modeling, incremental loads
  • Ad-hoc analysis — Python, Pandas, notebooks with footnotes
  • BI & dashboards — Metabase, Superset, Grafana, custom UIs
  • Experimentation — A/B sizing, causal reads, honest reporting
03

Web Development

Type-safe full-stack work, top to bottom. I care about the boring parts - performance budgets, accessibility, deployment hygiene - because they're what makes the interesting parts stick.

  • Front-end — React, Next.js, Svelte, design-system work
  • Back-end — Node, Python (FastAPI/Django), Go where it earns it
  • Data layer — Postgres, Redis, schema-first APIs
  • Delivery — CI/CD, edge functions, hermetic builds
04

System Design

Architecture that's still legible next year. I prefer event-driven cores, clean boundaries, and observability designed in from the start.

  • Architecture reviews — diagrams that match the running system
  • Event-driven design — queues, streams, idempotency, replay
  • APIs & contracts — schema as source of truth, end-to-end safety
  • Observability — OpenTelemetry, SLOs, on-call you actually want
Principles

How I work.

  1. P/01

    Make illegal states unrepresentable.

Types aren't paperwork. They're the cheapest tests you have, applied earliest, with the widest reach.

  2. P/02

    Observability is a product feature.

If you can't see it, you can't ship it. Metrics, traces, and logs are designed in — not bolted on after the first incident.

  3. P/03

    Small, total, composable.

Many small functions beat one clever framework. I optimize for the code a stranger reads next year — sometimes that stranger is me.

  4. P/04

    Ship in writing.

Decisions, trade-offs, and the why behind them — written down. Async-first, so context is portable and nothing depends on a meeting that didn't happen.

Stack

Tools of the trade.

The actual choice depends on your codebase, your team, and the trade-offs in play - but this is what I reach for first. I'm comfortable picking up whatever your stack uses.

Engagements

Three ways
to work together.

I work with engineering teams on a B2B basis - either as the engineer doing the work, an extra hand inside your team, or as the advisor checking your blueprints.

01

Project

Fixed-scope build, end to end. From discovery to delivery and the post-launch debrief.

  • Length4–16 weeks
  • PricingFixed fee
  • Best forNet-new builds & replatforms
03

Fractional & advisory

Architecture review, AI-readiness audit, or weekly office hours for your engineering team. Async-first, available in depth when it matters.

  • LengthOngoing
  • PricingRetainer
  • Best forLeadership & review

Sounds good?

I take on a handful of engagements at a time. Tell me about yours and I'll send back a one-page response within 48 hours.
